Monday was Patriot Day, a Massachusetts state holiday that is celebrated every year in Boston. On this day, the Red Sox play a early afternoon game and the Boston Marathon is run afterwards.

This time however, it wasn't your typical holiday. The Boston Marathon started off as normal, but ended in chaos, confusion, and tragedy.

Two bombs struck the finish line Monday at the Boston Marathon, with the first one coming around 2:50 p.m. EST at Boylston Street in Boston. The bombs left runners and fans frightened, and scurrying for help, hurt, and dead. Three people were killed, including an eight-year old boy. CNN reported earlier today that at least 144 people were treated at a hospital, and at least ten people had limbs amputated.

The bombings left a somber feeling on what was suppose to be a joyous day in Boston, and left many searching for answers. As a result, many people after yesterday's attacks will ask questions such as why, or who did this? How? Why the Boston Marathon? Why does this keep happening in America?

People can ask these questions, feel saddened, and frustrated, but must realize amidst the tragedy in Boston, Americans must come together, pray for one another, and hold their neighbors hands and give them a hug. And Americans must learn not to just to come together and pray for another after tragedies, but every day. Our country needs it.

Lastly, while Americans are coping, hurting, and searching for answers, Americans must take comfort that justice will be served. President Obama said after the bombing, "This was a heinous and cowardly act and given what we now know about what took place, the FBI is investigating it as an act of terror." America will do what it takes to serve justice.

It's what makes America one the greatest countries in the world. Americans have freedom, and a government and military that will protect them in times of tragedy. Tragedies happen and as Americans have seen in the past, they'll happen again, but know good will triumph over evil. It always has, and it always will.

For Tuesday, Wednesday, the rest of this week, become a Red Sox fan, a Celtics fan, a Bruins fan, and hold the city of Boston in your heart. They need it and America needs it.
