Adrian Peterson Says Pay Johnny Manziel

Redshirt sophomore quarterback Johnny Manziel is being investigated by the NCAA for allegedly signing autographs for a profit, and Minnesota Vikings star running back Adrian Peterson thinks Manziel should get paid.

Manziel won the Heisman Trophy a year ago after a record-setting redshirt freshman season that involved a win over Alabama, and Cotton Bowl victory over Oklahoma.

Peterson told that Manziel and other college football players should get paid. Peterson explains, “I think so. The universities are making a lot of money off student-athletes in general. So, yeah, he should be able to make money. I think so. They make millions off of these athletes and made millions off the guys I played with as well. Yeah, he should be getting paid.”

The Texas A&M University System chancellor agreed with Peterson that college athletes should be paid in an interview with NBC 5’s Chris Van Horne yesterday. “I also think that there’s something, you know this is just me talking not as a chancellor of the system, something is wrong when we can make money off of our football players, the NCAA make money off of our college football players, and they can’t be treated like Olympic athletes.”

Since the NCAA investigation with Manziel for allegedly profiting off his own name by signing autographs, the NCAA has stopped selling jerseys at and pulled their name from EA Sports’ popular NCAA Football video game to avoid sounding like a hypocrite.
