Augustana shot a 20-over-par 308 and is in fifth place after the first round of play at the NCAA Division II Central Region Championships at Tartan Park Golf Course in Lake Elmo, Minn.

The Vikings find themselves eight strokes off the lead after the first 18 holes.  Arkansas Tech and Central Oklahoma, the No. 1 and 2 seeds in the Central Region, are tied for first at 12-over-par 300. Henderson State is third at 303 and Northeastern State is in fourth place at 304.

Augustana has two individuals in the top five.  Maggie Leland and Allie Ostrander both shot two-over-par 74 and are tied with three other players for fifth place after the first round.

The University of Sioux Falls' Tavia Rutherford wrapped up her first round with a six over par 78, which places her 19th overall heading into the second day of competition.

Rebecka Surtevall of Arkansas Tech holds the individual lead with a one under 71.

The second round of play is scheduled to start at 9:00 am Monday.  The Central Region Championships consists of 54 holes with the top three teams advancing to the NCAA Division II Women's Golf Championships May 14-17 at Conover, N.C.
