Most of the game both teams played as equals.  There were certain stretches where Augustana was just a bit better which led to an 86-68 win over Midland University at the Elmen Center Saturday afternoon.

Midland captured the lead early with Augie (4-1) breaking a 14-14 tie with a 6 point run during the early stages of the non-conference affair.  The lead settled at 8 points at halftime at 42-34 in favor of the home team.  The lead finally percolated into double digits with 14 minutes left due to the post presence of both Katie Meister who finished with 15 points and Rhianna Gullickson who scored 14.  Riley Nordgaard was steady throughout with a 14 point first half enroute to a career high of 20 to lead the Vikings.

The Warriors (7-3) were led by the 27 counters of Jamilah Johnson on 10 of 22 shooting from the floor.  Both teams will resume conference play next week as Midland will face GPAC foe Nebraska Wesleyan in Lincoln on Wednesday.  Augustana will try to capture their first conference win next Friday and Saturday as they travel to Southwest Minnesota State and then the Stewart Center to face USF.
