INDIANAPOLIS – The Augustana women's golf team has earned the No. 3 seed for the Central Region Championships the NCAA announced on Monday.

The Vikings are coming off their fifth straight Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championship, winning the tournament on Sunday by 33 strokes. The Vikings had the top three finishers in the event, including Maggie Leland who won individual medalist honors.

Tavia Rutherford of the University of Sioux Falls has also been selected to compete in the Central Regional.   She finished sixth at the NSIC tournament where she had the second best score in Sunday's final round with an 80.

The Central Region Championships will be played at Tartan Park Golf Club in Lake Elmo, Minn. May 4-6. Concordia-St. Paul will serve as the host.  The top three teams along with the top three individuals not with a team after 54 holes of competition will advance to the NCAA Division II Championships May 14-17 in Conover, N.C.
