ORLANDO, FL — Three Augustana relay teams were honored by Accusplit for their top relay performances in Division II outdoor track and field.

Tracy Hellman, Augustana’s head men’s and women’s track and field and cross country coach, accepted the awards Wednesday at the 2012 United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association convention in Orlando, Fla.

Accusplit has recognized the top relay performances in Division I track and field for the past 30 years. Beginning in 2011, Accusplit began honoring Division II and Division III teams as well.

Augustana teams won three relay events at the 2012 Drake Relays, all three of which posted the best times in Division II for the outdoor season.

Two men’s teams were honored, including Henrik Hansson, Khor Kong, Tom Karbo and Aduo Omot, who won the 4×800 with a time of 7:25.10. The four also were honored for their distance medley relay time of 9:50.44, which is a new school record.

Auguatana also recorded a first-place finish in the women’s distance medley relay. Kristin Brondbo, Colleen Everson, Molly Kokesh and Kyle Blakeslee recorded a time of 11:47.67 at the Drake Relays.

Accusplit has been the leader in the professional stopwatch and timing industry since 1972 with its invention of the first digital stopwatch.
