Last year was the year of the Badgers in college hockey. This year may have a similar ring to it.

The Wisconsin Badgers had a cinderella run a year ago. The Badgers started 2012-2013 with a 1-6-3 record, but ended up winning the WCHA Final Five in March. Now, the Badgers will start the 2013-2014 season ranked No. 1 in the Big Ten and return nine seniors.

The Minnesota Gophers were picked second, followed by Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, and Penn State.

The Gophers junior forward Kyle Lau was a unanimous selection as he was selected to be a "player to watch" by Big Ten coaches.

Minnesota opens their season on October 11 vs. Mercyhurst. Big Ten play starts when the Gophers play the Badgers at home on October 29.
