We will never see the number seven on the back of a Sioux Falls Canaries player ever again.

The Birds are retiring former outfielder and designated hitter Beau Torbert's number and inducting him into their Hall of Fame during a pregame ceremony, Monday, July 8th.

In three seasons in Sioux Falls (2008-2010), Torbert was a two-time American Association Player of the Year (2008, 2010), and the Independent Player of the Year in 2010.

During that 2010 season, Torbert won the American Association batting title with a .394 batting average, a team record and league record at the time. He led the league with 100 RBI (a team record), and set a league record with 155 hits. He also set team records for doubles in a season (38) and a league record for total bases in one season (269).

His career .358 batting average is still tops among all players in franchise history.
