Brandon Valley and Dell Rapids pulled away on the second day of competition to claim the 2014 South Dakota boys Class AA and Class A golf championships.

The Lynx, who entered the final round with a three stroke lead over Sioux Falls Lincoln, finished with a team score of 607 at Cattail Crossing Golf Course in Watertown.  The Patriots were 10 strokes back at 617.  Rapid City Stevens, Sioux Falls O'Gorman and Yankton rounded out the top five.

Brandon Valley's Alex Hamer overtook teammate Riley Duncanson to win the individual title.  Hamer started the final round one shot behind Duncanson, but carded a two-day total of 144 to finsh one stroke better than Duncanson and Rapid City Stevens' Sam Musch who finished at 145.  Luke Rezac of Lincoln and Sioux Falls Washington's Wil Grevlos tied for fourth place at 148.  Defending champion Tommy Vining of Lincoln was sixth at 150.

In the Class A tournament at Southern Hills Golf Course in Hot Springs, Dell Rapids ran away with the championship with a two-day team total of 626.  Vermillion was 38 strokes back in second place at 664.  Parkston was third, Aberdeen Roncalli fourth and Canton fifth.

The Quarriers Adam Karst shot a second round 73 to win the individual championship with a two-day total of 147.  Gabe Heller of Aberdeen Roncalli was second at 154.
