McMurphy adds his thoughts on Iowa State in 2014:

"I think they are going to be a lot better. Mangino as the offensive coordinator speaks for itself what he did as a head coach at Kansas and hasn't been done before and since he left. I think he will give a new spark to that offense and hopefully for Iowa State, the defense can rebound. They struggled a little bit under Wally Burnham. Certainly I think Iowa State is going to be on the up pick. The question is will they be able to get to six and to a bowl game?" I think the addition of Mangino is going to pay huge dividends and I'd argue between him and Ralph Friesen at Rutgers, I think those guys could have the biggest impacts than say Lane Kiffin at Alabama because Alabama doesn't really have a lot of problems offensively. They are going to do things, maybe tweak some things here and there. You are not going to get a huge overhaul with Lane Kiffin and certainly with Mangino and Friesen are two of the best offensive coordinator hires in the offseason."
