Brian Robison on the Minnesota Vikings quarterback situation

Minnesota Vikings defensive end Brian Robison joined Jeff Thurn on Friday’s edition of Overtime.

Robison played in all 16 games last season, and contributed 37 combined tackles, and nine sacks for Minnesota. Last October, he signed a four-year contract to stay with the Vikings.

Robison discusses if he believes there is a quarterback on the roster to get the Vikings back to playoffs, or he thinks a quarterback needs to be drafted?

“I believe guys on team, being the quarterback position, I believe that’s only one piece of the puzzle. I would say in order for a team to be successful, and for a quarterback to be successful, the whole team needs to rally behind him. I think we got the guy here that can obviously get it done. I think Matt Cassel showed some things last year winning some ball games for us. I think Christian (Ponder) has definitely showed in past that he can get the job done numerous times. We just have rally behind a guy and figure out who the guy is that is going to give us the best opportunity to win and go out there and get it done.”

Cassel and Ponder are the only quarterbacks on the roster, and the Vikings own the eighth pick in the NFL Draft next week.

Thurn asks Robison if the Vikings need to pick one quarterback and stick with a signal caller for the whole season in 2014?

I think that’s the one thing that bothered us last year. You know you never had that guy that you could call your quarterback. It was one of those deals where every week you had a new guy in there, and that get’s frustrating for a team. You want to see a guy that you can rally behind and get behind and ride his legs.”
