Can Danny Santana Keep It Up for the Minnesota Twins?

Danny Santana continued his offensive surge for the Minnesota Twins last night. 

The center fielder batted leadoff last night, going two-for-five with a home run right off the bat. In fact, he's provided manager Ron Gardenhire with an impressive 1-2 duo at the top of order with Brian Dozier and Santana. The pair smashed back-to-back dingers in the first inning to give the Twins an early lead.

Santana first appeared in the Minnesota lineup on May 5 when Josh Willingham, and Oswaldo Arcia went down with injuries. Since then, the Dominican Republic-born outfielder has shined. He may be just a rookie, but his instincts at the plate are making him tough for pitchers to throw to. That's normal, too, and now, it's a matter of time to see if Santana can adjust as pitchers begin to figure him out.

With a month into the season, Santana is hitting .364/.395/.506, and has an on-base percentage of .902. In 23 games that he's appeared in, the 5'11" outfielder has nine runs, 28 hits, two home runs and 11 RBI's.

Twins fans have enjoyed Santana's hot start, and perhaps his journey in the Big Leagues can stick around a bit longer.

Minnesota is at Toronto again tonight. First pitch is at 6:07 p.m., with Kevin Correia (2-7, 6.11 ERA) battling J.A. Happ (5-2, 4.12 ERA) on the mound. Last night, the Blue Jays beat the Twins, 5-4, after Toronto's Kevin Pillar hit a walk-off single in the ninth. New Twins addition, Kendrys Morales, was 1-for-3 with a walk, and strikeout.
