LAREDO, TX -- The Sioux Falls Canaries continued to struggle on their 10-game Texas road trip, falling 13-3 to the Laredo Lemurs on Monday night at Uni-Trade Stadium.

The Canaries (12-19) lost their fourth straight game and have dropped six of their last seven contests.

Trailing 2-0, the Birds tied the game in the second inning on Jared Clark's sacrifice fly and Nick Van Stratten's RBI single. But Laredo (19-12) took the lead for good with a bases loaded walk in the third inning. Harrison Kain hit a three-run double two batters later to extend the lead to 6-2.

Van Stratten tripled and scored in the fifth inning to cut the lead to 6-3, but the Birds came no closer. Van Stratten has tripled three times in the last four games and leads the league with six. He was the only Canaries hitter with multiple hits, as the Birds mustered just five knocks on the night.

Laredo starter Ryan Sasaki (2-2) walked four batters but held the Canaries to three runs on four hits in five innings. He struck out one. Four Laredo relievers combined to shut out the Birds in the final four innings, allowing just one base runner.

The Lemurs put up three runs in each of the fifth and sixth innings and added a final tally in the seventh. Brian Peterson 2-for-5 with four RBI, while John Allen was 3-for-4 with three runs scored and a solo home run.

Austin Brough (0-3) suffered the loss in his second career start. He yielded 12 runs, 11 earned, on 14 hits in six innings. He walked five and struck out two.
