Coyote Jumpers Head To NCAA Indoor Championships
This is a big weekend for three members of the South Dakota track and field team.
Pole vaulters Emily Grove and Bethany Firsick and high jumper Megan Glisar are in Albuquerque, New Mexico for the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships.
Grove and Firsick will compete in the pole vault at 7:00pm Central Friday, Glisar will compete in the high jump starting Saturday at 4:30pm.
Grove enters as the top-ranked pole vaulter in Division I this season and is third on the all-time performance list with a height of 14 feet, 9½ inches. Firsick is the defending outdoor national champion. She ranks 11th on the Division I performance list this season at 14-1¾. She placed sixth at this meet a year ago with a height of 14-1¼.
Glisar is sixth in the high jump with a top height of 6-0¾. She placed third in the event at the USATF Indoor Championships last month.
As a team, the Coyotes are ranked 18th in the nation according to the latest U.S. Track and Field/Cross Country Coaches Association rankings, which is third-best among mid-majors.
The championships will be streamed live on ESPN3.com starting at 6:55pm Friday and 5:30pm Saturday.
