South Dakota is going from one extreme to another this week on their final Summit League home stand of the season.

Thursday, it was the up tempo, high scoring offense of Omaha paying a visit to the DakotaDome, and the Coyotes needed every second of the game to eek out a one-point victory over the Mavs.

Saturday, the USD defense prepares for the very deliberate style of Western Illinois, who has lost five straight.

The Coyotes will be trying the avenge their only lopsided loss of the first half, when the Leathernecks beat them, by 18 in Illinois.

In that game, freshman Garret Covington led the way with 21 points, while WIU took advantage of soft USD defense, shooting 71 percent in the second half, 62 percent for the game:

Saturday is the last regular season home game for Coyote seniors Trevor Gruis and Karim Rowson.  Coach James says those moments are always tough:

Tipoff Saturday is 4:00pm in Vermillion.
