Lately there has been an unfortunate number of college and pro sports teams having issues with planes during their travel.

Over the last month, the Butler Bulldogs Men's Basketball team has had to land twice because of issues and on one occurance, people inside the plane were sending text messages to family members because they were worried they weren't going to make it.

Add the Dallas Stars to the list of those who have had a scary time in the air.

On Saturday, the Stars plane took off from a St. Louis area airport but turned around within five minutes because of smoke in the cockpit.

They were able to return to the ground without incident and the pilot said the smoke was not the result of a fire.

The team ended up taking a backup plane to Los Angeles for their Monday game against the Kings.
