A title defense begins at the Sanford Pentagon on Saturday November 12. So says the Sioux Falls Skyforce schedule which was released on Monday.

Much is yet to be defined with regards to personnel, but three new teams in the NBA Development League have shifted the ‘Force toward the Western Conference. The Bulls, Hornets and Nets all have new affiliates close to the parent club’s respective home base. Also Idaho and Bakersfield have moved to Salt Lake City and Prescott, Arizona respectively with the magnet of the top franchise pulling the two teams closer.

Assessing the 2016-17 schedule from the bird’s eye, the heaviest month will be December with 12 games scheduled. One stretch will feature 5 games in 9 days followed later with 6 games in 10 days including the Christmas Day game against the Northern Arizona Suns.

Only twice will Sioux Falls play the same team on consecutive nights, Texas in early January and Rio Grande Valley in mid-February both at home. However there are 5 instances where the ‘Force will visit different opponents on back-to-back nights. One time Sioux Falls will play at home then travel to a different venue to play the following night.

Being in the Western Conference means only four games will be played this season in the Eastern time zone. Canton is the only team Sioux Falls will miss on the initial schedule which makes it highly likely those two teams will lock horns at the NBADL Showcase.

On the home schedule, January and March each will feature 6 home contests. Also there will be an increase in Sunday games this year with a total of 7 with 4 at the Pentagon.
