East River Deer Season to See Increase in Two-Tag Licenses
More deer could be harvested in East River if the South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks Commission proposal is approved.
The plan would call for 250 fewer one-tag licenses in 2015, but would increase the number of two-tag licenses by 1,050; a net increase of 800 licenses issued. The extended antlerless season running two weeks from the Saturday before Christmas, which has been in effect for the last several years, would be removed from the season.
An additional antlerless unit in Yankton County would also be established south of SD Highway 50 and west of U.S. Highway 81.
The 2015 East River deer season will run November 21 - December 6. The application deadline is August 28.
