East Side Walmart Shooting Turns Out to be Self-Inflicted
The young man who told Sioux Falls police he had been shot on Saturday turns out to have a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Officer Sam Clemens says the 17-year-old from Dell Rapids told police around 5:40pm Saturday that he had been in the parking lot of the east-side Wal-Mart on Arrowhead Parkway while his mother was in the store.
The teen said several men came up and tried to rob him, and that one had shot him in the leg:
Clemens says police don't know if the gunshot was intentional or accidental, but he says a .22-caliber handgun was found in the vehicle.
The teen was treated at a hospital and released, and then was taken to the Juvenile
