Aaron Hernandez has been in prison serving a life sentence on a murder conviction for a shooting back in 2013.

In a recent trial, Hernandez was acquitted on a double murder charge.

The Washington Post is reporting that Wednesday morning guards, at a maximum security prison in Lancaster, Massachusetts, found the former New England Patriots tight end hanging in his cell.

Hernandez was pronounced dead a few hours later.  It’s reported that Hernandez hanged himself using a bed sheet tied to the prison cell window.
