The best three-point shooter in South Dakota State history is coming back to Brookings as a member of the Jackrabbit coaching staff.

Clint Sargent will be the program's new director of operations.

Sargent, a native of South Sioux City, Nebraska, had been overseas in the two years since he left Brookings, playing professionally with USC Heidelberg in the German ProA League.

Head Coach Scott Nagy said in a SDSU press release:

We are very excited to add Clint to our staff.

It’s a great hire for us because he is so familiar with how we operate and what’s important to our program.

I anticipate him developing into a great college coach.

Sargent played for the Jacks from 2007-2011, knocking down a school record 252 three-pointers. He also holds three of the top ten single-season 3-point marks, making 83 in 2010-11, and 68 in both the 2008-09 and 2009-10 seasons.

Sargent says he's happy to be coming back to SDSU:

I’m very thankful for the opportunity to join the staff here at South Dakota State, and I'm excited to work alongside Coach Nagy and the rest of the athletic department that did so much for me during my playing career.

It feels great being back in the Brookings community and I look forward to another great year of Jackrabbit basketball!

Sargent is married to former Jackrabbit women’s basketball standout Jill Young.
