The South Dakota Department of Game, Fish and Parks has proposed a new hunting unit that would allow a longer Canada goose season right outside of Sioux Falls.

The Metro Goose Hunting Unit would allow hunting from November 2 - February 14. This does not extend the existing goose season in this unit but allows for the harvesting of geese that stay in and around Sioux Falls throughout the winter. The portions of Lincoln and Minnehaha counties in the metro unit will have no hunting in September and October.

An informational meeting will be held on June 29 from 5:30 - 7:00 P.M. at the Outdoor Campus.
