HARRISBURG 60, SIOUX FALLS CHRISTIAN 52
WATERTOWN, SD -- Morgan Beaner's 21-point, 11-rebound effort carried Harrisburg to a 60-52 win over Sioux Falls Christian Thursday at the South Dakota girls Class A basketball tournament.

The Tigers (23-1) led most of the way in their first state tournament game, but Sioux Falls Christian (16-8) has a couple chances to tie the game late.

Trailing 58-52, the Charges turned the ball over once and had a three-point shot blocked.

Morgan Krier added 13 points for Harrisburg.

The Chargers' Hayley McCarron finished with a game-high 25 points and 13 rebounds. McCarron was 7-for-7 from the line. She had 16 points at half.

Brooke VanGorp added 10 points for Sioux Falls Christian.

WEST CENTRAL 58, SPEARFISH 44
WATERTOWN, SD -- Hunter Mathieu scored 17 points to lead seventh-seeded West Central to a 58-44 win over No. 2 seed Spearfish on Thursday at the South Dakota girls Class A basketball tournament.

Mathieu made three of six three-pointers and grabbed a team-high seven rebounds to help the Trojans win the rebounding battle 42-34.

West Central (19-5) had a 16-5 edge in points off turnovers and a 15-5 advantage in bench scoring. West Central took a 27-24 lead into halftime but outscored the Spartans 16-8 in the third period.

Madison Kuehl added 16 points on 4-for-9 shooting. She was 7-for-9 from the free throw line.

Bethany Crosswait paced the Spartans (17-5) with 18 points and Kaitlin Spargur had 11 points and 10 rebounds.

PINE RIDGE 55, CHAMBERLAIN 34
WATERTOWN, SD -- Pine Ridge shook off a slow first half to beat Chamberlain 55-34 Thursday in a first-round game at the South Dakota girls Class A basketball tournament.

The Lady Thorpes (21-1), who have surpassed 100 points three times this season, led 19-12 at halftime. But they outscored Chamberlain 36-22 in the second half.

Chamberlain shot just 26 percent from the field (21-2).

Shaylene Richard led the Lady Thorpes with 12 points. She was 5-for-12 from the field.

Jolonna Sazue added 10 points and four rebounds. She had two three-pointers.

Kennedy Wagner and Jaymee Knippling led the Cubs with seven points apiece.

ABERDEEN RONCALLI 47, CLARK-WILLOW LAKE 39
WATERTOWN, SD -- Aberdeen Roncalli used a suffocating defense and 17 points from Mollee Karst to beat Clark-Willow Lake 47-39 Thursday at the South Dakota girls Class A basketball tournament.

Roncalli (19-3) forced 25 turnovers and scored 26 points off turnovers. Clark-Willow Lake (18-5) outrebounded the Cavaliers 32-20, but the Cyclone had created just eight turnovers and shot 31 percent.

Karst was 6-for-12 from the free throw line and had a three-pointer. Tage Hanson had three three-pointers and 14 points.

The Cavaliers shot 41 percent.

Chynna Stevens led the Cyclones with 14 points and 10 rebounds. She struggled from the field at 3-for-11, but was good on seven of 10 free throws.

Mikayla Prouty had 11 points and Mackenzie Huber 10.
