SIOUX FALLS WASHINGTON 52, SIOUX FALLS O'GORMAN 40
RAPID CITY, SD -- Emma Hanson scored 28 points to power Sioux Falls Washington to a 52-40 first-round victory on Thursday over Sioux Falls O'Gorman at the South Dakota girls Class AA basketball tournament.

Hanson connected on 11 of 13 field goal attempts, including four of five from three-point range. She also grabbed a team-high seven rebounds for the second-seeded Warriors (21-2). Washington outscored O'Gorman 31-15 in the second half after trailing 25-21 at the half.

Hannah Nieman added nine points and sank three of Washington's eight three-pointers in the win. O'Gorman (14-10) was paced by Kate Cartwright, who sank four three-pointers to finish with 12 points.

SIOUX FALLS LINCOLN 41, SIOUX FALLS ROOSEVELT 37
RAPID CITY, SD -- Cera Ledbetter had 18 points and Ellie Brecht added 15 as Sioux Falls Lincoln slipped past Sioux Falls Roosevelt 41-37 in a first-round game at the South Dakota girls Class AA basketball tournament on Thursday.

Ledbetter chipped in 10 rebounds for the Patriots (15-8), who shot 36 percent and outboarded the Rough Riders 37-35. Lincoln had a 24-10 advantage in inside scoring.

Brecht made seven of nine shots from the floor, including a three-pointer.

Lincoln led the low-scoring game 15-12 at halftime.

Tagyn Larson led the Rough Riders in scoring with 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.

Roosevelt shot just 23 percent from the floor and 20 percent from three-point range.

MITCHELL 54, RAPID CITY CENTRAL 43
RAPID CITY, SD -- Kristin Sabers scored 15 points as the Mitchell Kernels started fast and eased to a 54-43 win over Rapid City Central on Thursday at the South Dakota Class AA girls basketball tournament.

Mitchell (21-3) raced out to an 18-10 lead after one quarter. But the Cobblers (14-8) hung around, pulling within 41-35 after three quarters. Mitchell pulled away down the stretch to earn a berth in the state semifinals.

Sabers was 6-for-10 from the field and added seven rebounds. Macy Miller added 14 points and Kerri Young 11.

Mitchell shot 55 percent from the field and hit four of seven three-pointers.

Taylor Bauer paced The Cobblers with 14 points. Tori Holt led Central in rebounding with seven.

ABERDEEN CENTRAL 61, STURGIS 41
RAPID CITY, SD -- Aberdeen Central rode a Samantha Knecht double-double to a 61-41 win over Sturgis at the South Dakota girls Class AA basketball tournament on Thursday.

Knecht scored 15 points and grabbed 18 rebounds for the top-seeded Golden Eagles (21-1). She was 5-for-16 from the field and made five of nine free throws.

Brianna Kusler was the only other Aberdeen Central player in double figures with 10 points.

The Eagles had a 15-0 advantage in second-chance scoring. They put the game away with a 17-9 scoring edge in the third quarter.

Lynsey Prosser made three of seven three-pointers and finished with 21 points. She was 8-for-18 overall from the floor.
