For the first time in school history, mid-major Gonzaga is No. 1 in college basketball. However, they may not want to be because an unranked team has beaten a top-five team, nineteen times this season.

Gonzaga has the best record in Division II, (29-2), and is the new top team after Indiana fell to Minnesota last week. The Bulldogs are the 57th school to be ranked No. 1 since 1949, and the fifth team to be No. 1 in the 2012-2013 season.

Gonzaga has finished their regular season and starts the Western Athletic Conference tournament in the semifinals on Saturday night.

Indiana, Duke, Kansas, Georgetown, Miami, Michigan, Louisville, Kansas State, and Michigan State round out the top ten.

VCU and UCLA were the only teams not previously ranked to jump into the rankings at 21st and 23rd, respectively.

North Carolina, Louisiana Tech, Saint Mary's, UNLV, California, Butler, Illinois, Minnesota, Creighton, Middle Tennessee, Akron, Missouri, Belmont, and Colorado State all are receiving votes.
