Another piece of last year’s Sioux Falls Skyforce championship team has returned to the fold to supplement another run at the title.

Greg Whittington accepted an offer to play with the Sydney Kings of the Australian NBL in August of 2016. While there he averaged 11.5 points, 6.4 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.5 steals per game.

Whittington’s Aussie odyssey ended less than two weeks ago and accepted the offer to return to the Skyforce. During last year’s championship campaign, Whittington played in 27 games while starting 26 of them averaging 13.8 points, 7.9 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 2 steals for the ‘Force.

With the addition of Whittington comes the subtraction of Markeith Cummings who joined the team on January 26. Over seven games, Cummings averaged 2.4 points and 1 rebound in almost 9 minutes per contest.

Two other moves of note were also announced today (February 21). First, Okaro White was recalled to the Miami Heat and Briante Weber was recalled to the Golden State Warriors. Both players were assigned to the NBADL in order to play in the All-Star Game in New Orleans on Saturday.

Even though an article in the San Jose Mercury News dubbed Weber the “Warriors’ fifth All-Star”, Golden State has a decision to make this week. Weber’s second 10-day contract will expire. If Weber is deemed worthy, the Warriors will have to sign Weber for the rest of the season. If not, it’s possible another NBA suitor could surface or Weber could return to Sioux Falls.
