SIOUX FALLS, SD -- Former Sioux Falls Stampede players Eric Hartzell and Chad Ruhwedel have been named to the All-College Hockey News (CHN) First Team after record setting seasons that have both players in the NCAA Frozen Four.

Hartzell has set numerous goaltending records at Quinnipiac this season while leading the Bobcats to an ECAC regular season title and first ever Frozen Four appearance. The St. Paul, Minn. native leads the country in wins with 29 and ranks third in Goals-Against-Average (GAA) at 1.54. He is second in the country in minutes played (2042:38) and third in shutouts with 5.

In the first round of the NCAA Tournament, Hartzell turned aside 17 of 20 shots in a 4-3 victory over Canisius and then stopped 18 of 19 shots in a 5-1 win over Union in the East Regional championship game. Hartzell was in goal during the Bobcats 21-game unbeaten streak that began in early November and ended in early February. He is one of the final three finalists for the Hobey Baker Award which is presented to the top college hockey player each season.

The 6-foot-4, 188-pound senior played in Sioux Falls from 2007 to 2009, recording 39 career wins. He holds the franchise record for most consecutive minutes played without allowing a goal (201:06) and is second for most shutouts in a season with 5.

Ruhwedel is an assistant captain this year with UMass-Lowell and has also helped lead his team to their first ever Frozen Four appearance. U-Mass Lowell won the regular season and post-season Hockey East titles and earned the #1 seed in the Northeast Regional. The River Hawks enter the Frozen Four with a 28-10-2 record and enter has the hottest team in the country having won seven straight games and 14 of their last 15 overall.

The San Diego, CA native is the top scoring defenseman for the River Hawks, posting 23 points (7g, 16a) and team best pluls-23 while appearing in all 40 games. Ruhwedel helped guide UMass-Lowell to a 6-1 victory over Wisconsin in the first round of the Northeast Regional and then helped set up the eventual game-winning goal on Saturday in a 2-0 victory over New Hampshire in the regional championship.

Ruhwedel played in Sioux Falls from 2008 to 2010, recording 33 points (5g, 28a) and was a plus-33 in 113 career games.
