ABERDEEN, SD -- Augustana remained unbeaten with an overtime goal to beat Northern State 2-1.  The Vikings improve to 3-2 (2-0, NSIC) and the Wolves fall to 1-3-1 (0-1-1, NSIC) in the 2012 season.

Payton Pry scored her second goal of the season with a blast from five yards out after Kara Bartels' shot was blocked by the Northern State keeper.  The Vikings came out on the offensive in the first half firing 12 shots, including seven on goal

Northern State evened the score with a goal of their own late in the first half.  Pry had an active first half with four shots and two on goal.  Bartels tallied three shots, two on goal and logged all 45 minutes in the first period.

A quiet second half led to a 1-1 tie forcing the game into overtime.  Pry scored what appeared to be a go-ahead goal, but was whistled for offsides in the waning minutes of the second half which nullified that goal.  Augustana notched eight more shots, four on goal, but couldn't find the back of the net in the second period.

A flurry of shots early in the first extra period couldn't find the net and Amanda Wagner saved the only Northern State shot to preserve the tie for one more period.

With four minutes left in the game Maren Werth drilled a free kick from the Vikings' own territory which found Jessie Huff who put away her fifth career game-winning goal.  The assist from Werth was her second on the season.

Bartels logged all 105 minutes from her midfielder position and Werth and Liz Bunkers played the entire match holding the Wolves to only one goal.

Amanda Wagner saved seven of the eight shots she faced for her third win of the season.

Pry finished with five shots and Oehlerkind took four to lead the Augustana offense.

The 25 shots and 13 shots on goal are season bests for the Vikings

The Vikings continue their road trip tomorrow at Minnesota Moorhead at 1 p.m.
