The Indoor Football League is just over three weeks away from starting, but the league has had to make a new schedule after the Minnesota Havok ceased operations.

Yes, the same Minnesota Havok team that was announced on September 9, 2015 to play in their first season of indoor football in 2016. The game for the Havok ended before the team could even think about getting on the field.

This makes for the second time the league, which includes the Sioux Falls Storm, had to switch its schedule due to a team leaving. The Minnesota Axemen were dismissed from the IFL back in November.

"As a result of the Havok organization failing to reach minimum IFL operational standards, the League has made the difficult decision to terminate the team's membership," stated IFL Commissioner Michael Allshouse.  "We greatly value the tremendous fans of the IFL and refuse to provide anything less than the highest professional product, both on and off the field, in the industry.  We are highly anticipating the start of the 2016 season, which should prove to be the most exciting in League history."

Unfortunately this isn't new for the Indoor Football League. In 2011 the league was comprised of 22 teams. That fell in 2012 to 16. The 2013-2014 seasons were played with nine teams, while ten played in 2015. When the initial schedule was released, the IFL expected 12 teams to compete this season. That is now back down to ten.

Sioux Falls Storm fans will have a slightly altered schedule to attend to. The opening kickoff game of the season was set to be between the Storm and Havok. Home dates have remained unchanged outside of the kickoff game.
