Tuesday night, January 27 during a stoppage in play late in the third quarter something boiled over between two Iowa Energy teammates. Thursday the NBADL handed out the penalties.

According to a press release, the league suspended guard Kalin Lucas for 3 games and forward Jarnell Stokes 2 games for fighting with each other on the team’s bench.

The incident, for which both players were ejected, occurred with 2:29 remaining in the third quarter of Iowa’s 124-120 victory over the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. Both players began their suspensions when the Energy faced the Mad Ants in Fort Wayne. You can see footage of the fight below.

Both players had good stats by that time in the game, 18 points for Lucas, 16 points 8 rebounds for Stokes. However something started the melee and since Lucas was given the harsher penalty, he was the one at fault.

According to the Energy’s color commentator, Lucas got the worst of the beating. That probably adds to the indignity.
