South Dakota State Finishes 2016 in the FCS Top Ten

A season that many consider to be the best in South Dakota State history has landed the Jackrabbits with their highest post season ranking ever.

SDSU (9-4) finished in the Top Ten in two national FCS polls to end the 2016 season. The Jacks hold down the number six spot in the final STATS FCS Media Poll. Earlier, SDSU finished the season in seventh in the FCS Coaches Poll. National Champion James Madison topped both polls.

The Jackrabbits' previous highest ranking in a season-ending poll was 11^th in both the media and coaches' polls in 2009.

2016 was a season of firsts for South Dakota State. The Jacks shared the Missouri Valley Conference title (with North Dakota State) for the first time ever, and secured a top eight seed and a first-round in the FCS Playoffs for the first time in school history.

SDSU's season ended in the quarterfinals, December 10, with a loss at North Dakota State.

The 2017 season kicks off with Duquesne, Saturday, September 2, at Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium in Brookings.
