Jackrabbits Swim To Second Place At The Summit League Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, IN — The South Dakota State women took second place, while the men finished third at The Summit League Swimming and Diving Championships in Indianapolis.

Pre-season favorite Denver won both team titles.  The Pioneer women scored 1,017.5 points to outdistance SDSU with 595 points.  South Dakota finished fourth with 446 points.

On the men’s side, Denver finished with 1,018.5 points, the Jackrabbits were third with 533.5 and the Coyotes fifth with 392 points.

Highlighting the Jackrabbits’ efforts on the final day was Emily Campbell’s championship performance in the 200 breaststroke.  Campbell used a strong finish to complete her comeback over Denver’s Amanda Sanders to win her first conference championship by one-one hundredth of a second. Campbell touched in 2:14.51, compared to Sanders’ 2:14.52.  The Summit League Co-Newcomer of the Year trailed Sanders through 150 yards, but was almost a second faster in the final leg.

USD’s Greysen Hertting won the women’s three-meter dive with a score of 270.85, sweeping the women’s diving events.
