Jon Krawczynski on Overtime: Where’s Kevin Love Going?
Associated Press writer Jon Krawczynski joined Jeff Thurn on Tuesday’s edition of Overtime with the latest involving the Kevin Love Sweepstakes.
Krawczynski (@APkrawczynski) covers the the NBA, and is an Vikings, Twins, Gophers, and Wild reporter for the AP in Minneapolis.
Krawczynski on the Love trade rumors:
"Yeah, I mean we are in kind of a holding pattern right now. I think the Timberwolves are just trying to weight their options and see what the best deal is for them. I do believe that they think the Cleveland package is the best one, but I think they are still trying to figure out minor parts to that deal if they could get rid of some other contracts they don't want and send the maybe to a third team or something like that. But nothing has been agreed upon yet. I think they are still are really trying to take a long look and make sure when they a make a decision, they know that they have made the right one. It may take awhile here. I know we are waiting with bated breath. I certainly would like to see this thing done, but right now it doesn't appear like there is anything imminent to any kind of announcement."
What's the best team for Love? Bulls, Warriors, or Cavaliers?
"Well I think if you put him with the Cavs with a trio of LeBron James, Kyrie Irving, and Kevin Love, certainly would be incredibly fun to watch. I think the three of those guys would fit together offensively just beautifully. Defensively I think there might a few issues there. Kyrie Irving doesn't play a whole lot of defense. Kevin Love doesn't either. So, how exactly would they stop guys? That would be a concern for that team. You look at Chicago: I think defense is much stronger there. You have Joakim Noah, Jimmy Butler. You have Tom Thibodeau, who really coaches defense and prides him. So, that team with Kevin Love, I think would be a little deeper than the Cleveland team is with Kevin Love is but I think that anytime you have a chance to pair with the best player in the World, I don't think you can wrong there. So, this really now has gotten out of Kevin Love's hands, and into the Timberwolves hands. It's essentially where they want to send him, just because I think Kevin would be willing to sign an extension with either of those teams."
Cleveland is willing to trade Andrew Wiggins for Love, and possibly Anthony Bennett and picks. Chris Sheridan of SheridanHoops says Bulls have offered Taj Gibson, Nikola Mirotic, and Doug McDermott.
