MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Junior forward Justin Kloos has been named Minnesota's hockey team captain for the next season.

Kloos returns as the Gophers' active leading scorer with 29 goals and 35 assists in 80 career games.

The junior from Lakeville has finished among the conference's top-10 scorers in each of his two collegiate seasons.

Coach Don Lucia calls Kloos "a great representative" of the hockey program and the university.

The announcement was made Wednesday. Alternate captains for the Gophers' 2015-16 season will be announced later.
