Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew found himself in a interesting position on Tuesday.

It was originally reported that MJD had been charged with MIsdemeanor Battery after a incident at a local establishment.

St. Augustine, Fla., police said in an amended news release Tuesday afternoon that Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew has not been charged with misdemeanor battery, as it earlier had said was the case in a news release, and is cooperating with police in its investigation of an incident at a restaurant in the city.

The police department said in its statement that Jones-Drew "maintains his innocence" and "is cooperating fully with our investigation," which it described as ongoing.

Jones-Drew's agent, Adisa Bakari, earlier had told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter that police would file an amended release stating no charges have been filed against his client.

"Maurice was there and was not involved. As soon as an altercation broke out, Maurice exited the premises. He was not questioned by police immediately after, nor later that day," Bakari said Tuesday.

According to the Florida Times-Union, police alleged in their earlier report of the incident on Sunday night at the Conch House Restaurant and Marina that Jones-Drew struck a security guard "on the left side of his head, knocking him out."
