Minnesota Twins, Kohl Stewart Close to Agreement on Contract
Stewart needs to undergo a physical, which is one of the final steps in order for his deal to be official.
Stewart was the fourth overall pick in the MLB Draft by the Twins. He is a 6’3″, 190 pound right-hander that can throw 91-94 mph. His fastball can touch 96 mph.
In his senior year at St. Plus X, he went 5-1 with a 0.18 ERA in 40 innings while striking out 59 batters and walking 16.
While the Twins try to sign Stewart, the Twins begin a series with the White Sox at Target Field tonight at 7:10 p.m. CDT.
Mike Pelfrey (3-6, 6.12 ERA) takes the mound for Minnesota.
Outfielder Josh Willingham received a cortisone shot in his left knee and hopes to play tonight. Willingham injured his knee on Saturday and did not play on Sunday.
