The Minnesota Vikings and punter Chris Kluwe have gone their separate ways after eight seasons.

Kluwe made it official Monday morning with a series of messages on Twitter:

The beginning of the end for Kluwe in Minnesota was the Vikings pick of Cal's Jeff Locke in the fifth round of the NFL draft.  Locke was in the Twin Cities over the weekend for rookie minicamp.

In his NFL career, all with the Vikings, Kluwe has a 44.4 yard average (38.8 net), and had just one punt blocked in 623 kicks.
