FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Former North Dakota State University relief pitcher Jay Flaa has been drafted by the Baltimore Orioles.

The 6-foot-3, 225-pound right-hander from Mandan was picked in the sixth round of the Major League Baseball draft on Tuesday, 193rd overall.

Flaa was 4-4 with a 4.87 ERA in 42 appearances with the Bison over the past three seasons, after transferring from the University of Mary in Bismarck. He is NDSU's highest draft pick since 1994, when pitcher Mike Gunderson went to the Houston Astros in the fifth round.

Flaa helped lead Mandan High School to a state championship in 2010 and won an American Legion state title with the Mandan Chiefs in 2011.
