FARGO, N.D. (AP) — The North Dakota State University softball team is making its seventh appearance in the NCAA Tournament in eight years.

The Bison open against Big Ten champion Minnesota on Friday in the Seattle Regional hosted by the University of Washington. The fourth team in the regional is Weber State.

NDSU gained an automatic bid to the tournament by winning its third straight Summit League Championship.

The winner of the Seattle regional moves on to a super regional against the winner of the regional being hosted by the University of Alabama. The super regional is a best two of three format with the winner advancing to the eight-team Women's College World Series, scheduled June 2nd through 8th in Oklahoma City.
