Though Wednesday marks the end of the NBA regular season, player movement is still in vogue regardless of post season aspirations.

New Orleans has been out of the playoff picture for a while, but decided to cut ties with former Skyforce Center Greg Stiemsma with two games left in the season.  Stiemsma appeared in 55 games (20 starts) this season for the Pelicans and averaged 2.9 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.0 block in 18.3 minutes per game. The three-year veteran holds career averages of 3.4 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks in 16.0 minutes per game with Boston, Minnesota and New Orleans.

Replacing the former Wisconsin Badger is Melvin Ely who spent the past two seasons with the Texas Legends averaging 13.4 points and 6.0 rebounds in 27.7 minutes per game.  Ely, a 6-10 center has appeared in 373 games over eight NBA seasons, averaging 5.3 points and 3.3 rebounds in 16.0 minutes per game.

The Pelicans finish the season at home against contenders Oklahoma City and Houston.
