FARGO, ND -- For a second straight night the Sioux Falls Canaries were so close to victory, but fell just short.

Fargo-Moorhead rallied to score three runs in the final two innings, including two in the 9th to win in walkoff fashion 5-4.

Ben Moore was stellar for the Canaries, allowing two runs in seven innings of work.  The Canaries ace struck out seven and left with a 4-2 lead.  The bullpen was not as sharp, however, as Kirk Clark allowed in a run on two hits in the 8th and Alan DeRatt suffered his first blown save of the season, allowing three hits in the 9th to tie the game.  A groundball followed that could have ended the inning was mishandled by shortstop Stephen Branca and the winning run scored, sending 4,526 Fargo fans home happy.

The Canaries took an early 1-0 lead by manufacturing a run in the 2nd.  Chris Valencia singled and stole second.  After moving to third base on a groundout, he scored on Chris Duffy's sacrifice fly.

In the 4th, Valencia singled and Ford doubled, setting up runners at second and third with one out.  Duffy's groundball to short brought home Valencia, but an errant throw to first allowed Ford to come home as well.  Duffy later scored on a wild pitch, giving the Canaries a 4-2 lead.

Having a short-term memory will be key for the Canaries with an 11:05 AM game Tuesday.
