With only eight players in uniform, the undermanned Sioux Falls Skyforce succumbed to the Reno Bighorns 127-98 on Wednesday night.

The Miami Heat were in need of both their two-way players against the Boston Celtics. Derrick Walton, Jr. played about 6 and a half minutes in the 90-89 upset win at TD Garden while Matt Williams, Jr. was the tenth man just in case.

Denver has also needed the services of Torrey Craig who has started his third game for the Nuggets. Unfortunately Craig’s 10 points with 6 rebounds and 2 assists in 37 minutes were in a losing effort 112-104 against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Erik McCree was away for personal reasons (UPDATE: he signed a two-way contract with the Utah Jazz) and A.J. Hammons was down with the flu. So the eight Sioux Falls players that remained got off to a blistering start pushing an early 17-point advantage. By halftime the Bighorns (6-10) had seized the lead for good and continued to extend the margin all the way to the game’s conclusion.

For the Skyforce (7-10) all eight players were listed with a double figure output in at least one category. Points were led by Alonzo Gee (19), rebounds by Kadeem Jack (12) and Jimmie Taylor was credited with 11 blocks (UPDATE #2: The G League revised down the total of blocks to 8).

Reno was paced by Jack Cooley’s 28 points and 12 rebounds, both team highs. Marcus Williams was a top scorer (23 points) and distributor (11 assists).

Sioux Falls will work their way back east for their next contest when they head to Salt Lake City on Thursday (December 21). Whereas, Reno gets to rest a bit before a home date with Santa Cruz on Friday.
