Off the Tee: Rory McIlroy Grabs European Title, Another First Time Winner on the PGA Tour, a Look Ahead to 2016
It's hard to believe a golfer who just won a tour championship calling his season a 'disappointment', but when that golfer is Rory McIlroy, it makes sense.
McIlroy rallied to win the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai, clinching the European Tour Championship in the process. But when your goal is winning majors and you come up empty, as McIlroy did in 2015, you find it hard to celebrate.
In this edition of "Off The Tee" with Joel Harrington from 4 Deep Golf Blog, we talk about a season that saw Rory miss three of the four majors with an ankle injury, and we discuss some of the other stories making news in the golf world.
Some of the headlines:
- For the sixth time in seven events to start the new PGA Tour season, we've had a first-time winner. This time it was Kevin Kisner at the RSM Classic.
- Graeme McDowell played well on consecutive weeks, finishing second to Kisner a week after winning the OHL Classic.
- When the calendar turns to 2016 in a little more than a month, the heart of the PGA Tour schedule kicks in. Joel has a preview of the 2016 majors and the Ryder Cup.
