O’Gorman Grad Connor Schaefbauer Gets Big Write-Up in Minneapolis Newspaper
Former O’Gorman High School standout Connor Schaefbauer has been turning heads in the Twin Cities this baseball season.
The University of Minnesota freshman has seen his stock rise quickly during his first season playing second base for the Golden Gophers. He’s hitting .309, has been elevated to the leadoff spot, and has already been recognized by the Big Ten for his play (click on the link at the bottom of the story).
That red hot play has caught the attention of the Twin Cities media.
In an article in the Minneapolis Star Tribune by Joe Christensen, Connor hasn’t forgotten where he came from:
I take a lot of pride being from South Dakota.
I think the sports there get knocked for not being competitive, but I would have to disagree.
So when I’m out there playing, it’s also reflecting on South Dakota.
Schaefbauer and the Gophers are currently the team to beat in the Big Ten standings, 11-4 in league play and 28-16 overall, as they host Nebraska this weekend and Illinois next weekend, before the Big Ten Tournament, May 22-25.
