After eight years, the Nebraska Cornhuskers are getting a new playing surface at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln.

But before the new stuff can be laid down, the old turf must come up, and that's what crews are doing this week.  The current turf was installed in 2005.

The new surface, which will have the same design as the old one, will cost $379,120.90 and will be paid for out of the athletic department’s 2014 Capital Projects budget.

It should be completed by mid-summer.
