BURNSVILLE, MN -- After leading the University of Sioux Falls to its sixth victory of the season, senior quarterback Taylor Perkins was named the NSIC Offensive Player of the week on Monday.

In a 31-23 victory over Concordia-St. Paul, Perkins was 21-of-39 for 305 yards with four touchdowns. He connected with three different receivers for scores as the Cougars improved to 6-1 overall (2-1, NSIC South). Perkins was also interception free for the fourth game this season.

The victory helped launch USF back into the AFCA Division II football coaches' poll after a week absence. The Cougars are ranked 23rd in the poll released Monday.

In seven games, Perkins is 130-for-235 for 1,739 yards. He is tied for the league lead with 21 passing touchdowns and currently sits fifth in the NSIC with a 55.3 completion percentage.

Perkins is the second USF player to receive an NSIC Player of the Week award, as senior kicker/punter Braden Wieking has twice earned the league’s special teams player of the week honor.

The Cougars are back in action on Saturday with a 1 p.m. contest at Augustana College (3-4).
