MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Trevor Plouffe is headed back to the disabled list again without even playing a game.

Plouffe was activated from the seven-day disabled list on Wednesday, but strained his left calf in a workout before the game. The Twins placed him back on the 15-day disabled list on Thursday and are recalling Chris Colabello from Triple-A Rochester.

The Twins were hoping that Plouffe's move could be retroactive to May 21 because he had not played a game since getting a concussion in that game. That would have meant he would get eight days on the list instead of the full 15. But league rules prevent a retroactive move when the injuries are different.

Twins manager Ron Gardenhire called that a "bad rule."
