The Minnesota Vikings came into the 2016 NFL Draft with three picks lined up for the first three rounds.

They were scheduled to make their selections at #23 in the first round, #54 in the second round and #86 in the third round.

At #23 they selected Ole Miss wide receiver Laquon Treadwell, at #54 they took Mackensie Alexander a cornerback out of Clemson and then decided they'd be better off trading their third round pick.

The partner for the trade ended up being Miami and in return the Vikings got Miami's 6th round pick this year and Miami's 3rd and 4th round picks next year.

We know Vikings GM Rick Spielman loves his draft trades as the Vikes have made 27 trades since 2007 involving and he did it again on Friday.

The rest of the draft for Minnesota looks like this:

  • Fourth round (121 overall)
  • Fifth round (160 overall)
  • Sixth round (180 and 186 overall)
  • Seventh round (240 and 244 overall)

Minnesota has a first, second, two thirds, two fourths, a fifth, a sixth and a seventh for next year.
