Over halfway through the American Association of Independent Professional Baseball, the
Sioux Falls Canaries are hanging in there only 5-1/2 games out of first place as of July 31st. But next season the league is going to be more competitive than ever with the announcement of a expansion team coming.

The Chicago Dogs will begin league play in 2018. According to American Association of Independent Professional Baseball ”the team’s home games will be played in the $60 million, 6,300-seat new stadium currently under construction in Rosemont, Illinois."

The teams logo looks like, well, a hot dog of course and colors and stars of the Chicago flag. The new team will join the Sioux Falls Canaries, Wichita Wingnuts, Winnipeg GoldeyesTexas Airhogs, Fargo Redhawks, Kansas City T-Bones, Gary Southshore RailcatsSioux City ExplorersCleburne Railroaders, Salina StockadeSt Paul Saints and the Lincoln Saltdogs.
