The Sioux Falls Marathon is a less than a month away and organizers are looking for your help.

The Sioux Falls Sports Authority is in need of course management volunteers for the September 13, 2015 event. Course management personnel ensure the safety of runners in the event and are stationed at intersections along the marathon route to help communicate with vehicles and pedestrians about possible traffic delays associated with the race.

Volunteers are needed for two to four hour shifts between 7:00 AM and 1:00 PM the day of the marathon.

There will be a new course with new start and finish lines this year. The 2015 marathon will begin at the Denny Sanford Premier Center and finish on the track at Howard Wood Field.

This year’s marathon will also feature an elite runner program for the first time. Runners must meet a qualifying time of three hours, 15 minutes for men and 3 hours, 45 minutes for women. Those times are based off the Boston Marathon qualifying times for men and women ages 40-44. The Sioux Falls event is run the day before qualifying opens for the 2016 Boston Marathon.

Proceeds from this year’s marathon benefit Sanford Children's Hospital.
